Healthy Colors of Your Food

Did you know that your health depends on the color of food you eat? Well, we won't take it too serious, however, one should listen to the specialists' opinion. Food color really matters!

Some products have an effect of psychotherapy, so you can improve your mental and physical state without visiting psychologist or psychiatrist. The color of food can influence our mood, general state, one or another organ. The color of illumination in your kitchen matters as well and is able to change the taste of ordinary products. For instance, if the lamps are green, blue, or red, sweet food will seem unflavored, and sour products will be bitter. This is because our taste sensors work together with visual receptors, consequently, not only taste, but the color of food is important.


Every product has its color which can determine certain healthy characteristics. For instance, to become more cheerful and energetic, raise the spirits - have something bright, and, on the contrary, to calm down - eat something with neutral color. Let's be more specific about colors and their healthy characteristics.

Red. Fills you with energy, improves blood circulation and muscular tonus, makes you more confident and improves your ability to fulfill ambitions. Red food treats depression and strengthens immune system. If you feel tired, red food will help you to bounce back.

Orange. Raises your spirits, improves metabolism, has a wholesome effect on skin and digestion. As for mental health, orange food makes you more optimistic, communicative, and creative. Orange products have a lot of antioxidants which help to recover body cells.

Yellow. This color is connected with digestion, liver, and intestine. Yellow products favor the excretion of toxins, they are essential for endocrine system. They brisk up the work of brain, stimulate memory and attention, so don't forget about yellow food during exam preparation. Yellow color is helpful in treating neuroses and depressions.

Green. Has a positive effect on heart, blood pressure, improves lung work. Green products refresh and strengthen the whole body. In addition, this color favors us with rest and harmony, it scatters negative emotions and improves sleep.

Blue. It is helpful in treating high blood pressure, throat inflammations, has positive effect on people suffering from headaches. As for mental health, this color has sedative effect.

If a person doesn't receive enough violet food, he/she feels constant fatigue. Purple is very important for mental health as well: it is perfect sedative for people suffering from anxiety and nervousness.

Brown. It is responsible for the normal work of thyroid gland, has an effect on mental and physical abilities of the body, influences hearing and eyesight. If you have eyes, ears, nose, or lung problems, you should increase the number of brown products in your daily ration.

The study of food colors is very popular these days, and even new science has emerged - psycho-cookery. So before making an appointment with psychologist or psychiatrist, think what you can do on your own. Maybe, proper diet will solve your problems? And it is an interesting new path for those students who are considering psychologist or psychiatrist career: isn't it exciting to study how colors can improve one's health? Without doubts, continuing research in this field will open new sides of psycho-cookery and ways of its use in our everyday life.
